Hasil riset pada artikel ini menyediakan bukti bahwa langoustine berperan dalam proses fragmentasi mikroplastik yang telah terakumulasi di dalam batuan sedimen melalui aktivitas pemulungan dan pencernaan. Temuan-temuan ini menyoroti eksistensi dari mikroplastik 'sekunder' jenis baru yang ditemukan di lingkungan melalui aktivitas biologis, yang dapat merepresentasikan jalur degradasi plastik yang signifikan di lingkungan terpencil dan stabil seperti laut dalam.
